Anti-Counterfeit Additives

SCOPIC’s authentication technology can be incorporated into products at the point of manufacture to provide a highly effective anti-counterfeit solution.

Detectable Solutions

Counterfeiting presents a challenging problem for those in trade and product distribution, affecting everyone from the product owner to the wholesalers, right down to the consumer. It can be very difficult to distinguish between authentic products and sophisticated counterfeit products. SCOPIC’s product authentication technology offers a highly effective anti-counterfeit solution. Our anti-counterfeit additives can be incorporated into products at the point of manufacture, allowing you to ensure they are one hundred percent authentic. They include various detectable components, enabling you to easily test every batch for complete authenticity. It’s a quick and easy method of confirming or disputing any suspicions.

How does it work?

When manufacturing is outsourced, SCOPIC’s detectable anti-counterfeit additives can act as a reassurance against counterfeiting during the manufacturing process. The anti-counterfeit additives are incorporated into the material of the product at the point of manufacture, enabling you to verify both its authenticity and the inclusion of the additives. You can choose to include the detectable additives throughout the entire material of the product or just in individual components such as the fabric tag on an item of clothing. The ‘treated’ component can also be altered with each production batch; rotating its position through several components to provide further security, whilst also improving batch traceability.

Alongside the anti-counterfeiting additives, you can also incorporate other additives into the product such as our antimicrobial or metal detectable and X-ray additives.

Authentication Technology

Perhaps the most economical and straightforward means of authentication, UV brighteners are a simple anti-counterfeit solution using an optical brightener which fluoresces under UV light to highlight product authenticity.

Micro-taggants are a more sophisticated means of identification, offering a comprehensive level of authenticity. The micro-taggant technology uses custom designed particles which utilise a combination of coloured layers, to represent a unique numeric code sequence specific to a product. The taggants are typically identified with a microscope.

Laser detectable technology, also known as ‘anti-stokes’ phosphors, is excellent for quick identification of authentication. Whilst the technology is widely used and non-unique, the laser pen ‘reader’ is inexpensive, making it ideal for a quick QA assessment.

Individually, every means of product authentication technology has its benefits, but by utilising two or more of the anti-counterfeit additives, it is possible to create a more robust, ‘layered’ solution for your product.
